I know!  I have not updated everyone in a while:)  I promise to be better with my blog Kristin.  Ya see my friend Kristin started this for me and I just need to fill it in.  Seems ez enough but I can never find the time or energy.  Last night she told me just to put aside a little time so here I am and I will update everyone after my events.

My last two races were not my best:(  I put a sad face because I was not mentally prepared to have unsatisfactory results.  I knew physically I was not ready for a PR (personal record) but somehow I was still disappointed.  My main sponsor, Metabolix nutrtion, is very supportive even though I have not placed as high as last year in my early season races.  My family and friends are all pushing me to do what I enjoy and prove to be very supportive of my racing and business.  I am excited to have a supportive boyfriend who is a great athlete and a wonderful person.  David has a great ebook on mental preparation which I recommend for everyone.  It helped me a ton with getting my mind in touch with where I am with my racing(www.enduranceworks.net).  I am feeling good about my race schedule and think it will be a great 2nd 1/2 of the season.

My last two races were the columbia triathlon and Philadelphia tri.  I had a great swim and bike at columbia and was placed very well but the run was very difficult and I lost a lot of ground to many strong runners.  A couple of weekends ago at Philly I had a tough swim and again my run was difficult although improved from columbia.  I had a great time on the bike course.  Dave Greenfield from Elite bicycles and his awesome team were such a great support system and motivator in Philly.  I always feel strong on the bike because they built my Elite bike to fit my body.  Thanks to Elite I love riding so much more and training on the bike has become my favorite thing to do because I am so comfortable.

Earlier in the year I did Ironman China and had a blast!  My friend Todd and Clay were fun to be around and we all supported each others race efforts.  At the end of the day it was all worth it.  It was a great exsperience and I got a Hawaii slot too.  After I raced columbia I decided I missed focusing on shorter distances.  My coach and sponsors are very supportive of me not doing IM Hawaii this year so I am going to take a little break from IM.  China was enough for me for 2008:)

I took a month off after IM China because the heat, time change and physical shock to my body was exhausting.  I only trained about 6-8 weeks for China and was just glad to finish injury free.  However I did suffer repercussions such as fatigue, lack of speed and just mental tiredness.  The 12hr time change out there was tough to get used to before the race and even harder coming back.  To top it all off I traveled to St. Croix for my frends wedding a week after China.  When I got back from St. Croix columbia triathlon came 2 weeks later.  I defintely enjoyed the race and competition but when I finished I knew I had a lot of work to do to get my run speed back.

I have to say my coach Joanna has been very encouraging and is giving me the right kind of workouts.  They are very hard and make me curse her name sometimes but she knows all this:)  My speed gets better with each coming week and track session.  I am excited and feel as though this year has been a great exsperience so far with learning my bodies reaction to specific training and racing.  It really helps my clients too because I can relate to their training responses in many cases and help to guide them through the ups and downs of triathlon training.

Next is 1/2 ironman Rhode island on July 13th.   Todd Crandell from racing for recovery will be out there racing too so look for him.   I am excited to go out and really push myself.  I have some clients getting ready for IM Lake Placid, IM Kentucky and some other great events.  I invite all my clients and friends to write on my blog.  Feel free to leave comments and ask questions.

KI you are doing so well with your training and Lake Placid is gonna be a great 1st IM for you.  I am excited to hear from my clients and friends so keep me updated from your end too.  That is a big part of what motivates me to want to do well so I want to hear about your adventures.

I will update everyone soon!:) Bye for now.

Finished IM China!

April 23rd, 2008

I am finally back in the States and the iron man is over! I finished in 12 hrs and 30 min and got an slot for IM Hawaii. Thank you all for your nice messages and support it really helped get me through. I loved all the messages and I thought about everything during the race and when the pain set in it gave me a great distraction. I really appreciate all of my wonderful friends and I couldn’t do any of this without all of your support. I will keep you updated on my race schedule this season and I love all of you.

Day 4 IM China

April 23rd, 2008

Thanks for all the great comments. It is so nice to have my friends and family send me messages. I appreciate all of you and I can’t wait to till race day so I can use all your support for energy to go fast. We checked in today for the race which made it more real so I am getting a little nervous but all is good. We swam in the China sea and the water temp. was comfortable and it looks like it will be a wetsuit swim. I have met so many great people here and today Clay and I ate some local food and hung out downtown with the locals a little. It was very different and fun and we definitely stuck out. I felt like I got a little piece of the culture today and I have so many photos to share. I will upload them on the team krista live site when I get back. My client and friend Todd is still having trouble getting used to the 12 hour time change but we still have til sunday. This race is gonna rock!

Ironman China

April 16th, 2008

It is day 3 of being in China and the island of Haikou is so beautiful.  We are finally getting used to the time change which is a 12 hour difference from Baltimore, MD.  I am staying with my client and friend Todd Crandell who started racing for recovery and will be competing in the race with me this weekend.  Clay Blair is also staying with us and will be doing the race.  Clay is a friend of Todds and was supposed to do IM Arizona this past weekend but like me Todd talked him into China.  We rode our bikes today and the sun was so strong Todd and I got sun burn already!  The conditions look to be very harsh with the heat andwind but it will be very exciting.  This morning after breakfast Todd and I were interviewed by the China TV stations and it was so fun!  We are talking to all our friends and family through Skype which is so cool because we can let everyone know whats going on each day.  We are trying to relax a little so we are well rested for the race but it is hard not to enjoy the beautiful island.  It is the hawaii of China as the race site calls it and that is pretty accurate from what I have seen so far.  tomorrow we check in for the race and things will really start to go by quickly and before you know it we will be out there racing.  I can’t wait to do this and I am excited for Todd and Clay as well.  I also can’t wait to share the exciting experience and pictures with my family, friends and clients.  My friend Kristin set this up for me to share with everyone because she is so awesome!  Kristen is the best and she has supported me even when I decide to do something like go to china:) It is hard for some people to understand the time commitment the sport takes but Kristin has never questioned it once and only said positive things about what I do and that is why she is such a wonderful person and such a great friend.
